Mahaweli Consultancy Bureau provides consultancy services mainly for water resources development and
irrigation development projects within Sri Lanka. From Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA’s), Initial
Environmental Examination (IEE’s), Social Impact Assessments (SIA) to Resettlement Action Plans (RAP),
our consultancy services cover a wide spectrum of solutions specifically catered to resolve all potential
issues with regard to your projects. Additionally, we also provide Engineering consultancy services
including Pre-feasibility studies, Feasibility studies and Detailed designing studies for water resources
development projects aimed for sustainable and infrastructure development within the island. We have
also partnered up with many local as well as foreign entities in contributing to large scale projects for the
sustainable infrastructure development within the island.
MCB’s joint project with Jain Irrigation System Ltd. of India under the unparalleled guidance of the
Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources Development, to offer consultancy services for the
implementation of micro-irrigation systems in three model farms located in Mahaweli areas across the
island – specifically, Moragahakanda, Rajanganaya and Thambuttegama, stands tall as a testimony to our
success. This project was capable to add great value in the production of high value crops in the dry zone
of Sri Lanka and has also been of assistance to address the water requirements of the dry zone, particularly
during extended periods of drought and water scarcity. Other advantages included the opportunity to
strategically apply various inputs in accessory product manufacturing such as fertilizer, in conjunction with
numerous other agricultural practices. The projects were successfully finalized in the year 2014, and it
was evaluated that Sri Lanka could gain significant benefits through the broader adoption and promotion
of this technology.
Apart from that, during the past few years, we have provided our services to major state authorities such
as Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment, Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources
Management, Department of Irrigation, National Water Supply & Drainage Board of Sri Lanka etc. mainly
in the fields of environmental assessments and feasibility studies of water resources development
projects.
Throughout our long-standing history, we have been able to complete all of our assigned consultancy
assignments successfully assuring the standard quality of the studies and assignments while providing
efficient and reliable data and representations. As a continuation of our quality work, we are currently
